Mary Guzman

CEO & Founder,

Crown Jewel® Insurance and

Managing Director,

MSR Underwriters

Managing Technology Vendor Risk

Mary Guzman founded Crown Jewel® Insurance (CJI) in January 2020. The company’s mission and vision is to provide the full suite of risk management services and insurance solutions specific to the imperative IP risk of trade secrets. To date, CJI has developed a first-of-its-kind insurance solution, Crown Jewel® Insurance, which covers the intrinsic value of trade secret assets and includes as a complement to the insurance the risk management and legal consulting services of brilliant minds in this space through a consortium of partnerships.

Ms Guzman serves a dual role, in that she is also a Lloyd’s coverholder. She left the retail insurance brokerage business after a successful career to join MSR Underwriters as managing director of cyber, errors and omissions and intellectual property in June 2019. She leads MSR’s efforts in product and service design, development of capacity and marketing. MSR has released four unique products, supported by turnkey risk management services, which are unavailable elsewhere in the now crowded cyber-insurance market, of which Ms Guzman was a pioneer nearly 20 years ago.

Ms Guzman came to CJI and MSR after more than 25 years as an insurance broker and consultant, having spent the past 10 years with McGriff, Seibels & Williams/BB&T, the sixth largest US broker. She and her team developed innovative products and created market capacity for a variety of industries, concentrating on customized risk and insurance solutions for the Fortune 2000 companies.
